The Quality, Educational Support and Training Team (QEST) is a school-based service consisting of Advisory Specialist Teachers and Specialist Teaching Assistants. We collaborate with schools, settings, professionals, and families to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Through our offer we can:
- Support the Development of High-Quality Inclusive Teaching.
- Assess and Advise: Carry out assessments, observations and recommend inclusive strategies and evidence-based interventions.
- Support a cohesive, whole-school approach to implementing the ‘Graduated Approach’.
- Build Staff Capacity: Deliver training, workshops, on the ground ‘coaching and modelling’
- Create Practical Resources and Toolkits: Develop toolkits, guides and bespoke materials including the maintenance of SENCO Space.
- Facilitate SENCo Networks and Strategic Support: Organise events to strengthen collaboration and best practice.
- Lead Key Projects: Jointly lead with Oldham’s Parent/Carer Forum and strategic partners on school-based projects e.g., the Partnership for the Inclusion of Neurodiversity in School (PINS) Early Language Support for Every Child (ELSEC). Delivery of the Pupil Intervention Project (PIP).
- Deliver Council Directed Activities: Quality assurance of Alternative Provision settings, advice at annual reviews, take part in SEND reviews, attendance at panel meetings.
All schools have a QEST link Advisory Teacher.
Age range: school-based ages 4-16
Opening times: morning, afternoon. Term time only.
