We specialise in delivering theatre-based programmes that challenge and change attitudes and behaviours. We work with participants to devise theatre, from their own experiences as well as touring professional interactive theatre performances on challenging topics.
Odd Arts community projects respond to the interests, talents and needs of particular communities. These projects are underpinned by theatre, but often other mediums including: Film; community reporting; photography; visual arts; music; and creative writing.
Most community projects are bespoke, commissioned with a particular group and theme in mind. Our community projects work in close partnership with Local Authorities, Police, youth organisations and other community and grass-roots organisations.
Odd Arts specialise in delivering work around mental health, as well as the wider health sector. We work in partnership with Mental Health Services, GPs, Clinical Commissioning Groups and Hospitals using theatre to improve mental health and wellbeing and to reduce conflict and inequalities.
We have also developed many collaborations exploring diversity and inclusion within the health sector. Many of our workshops and projects we deliver with health professionals aim to address some of the systemic challenges and barriers they face, using theatre to explore solutions. Examples of these challenges include: Lack of representation from minoritised groups within service staffing; burn-out and stress; professional and service-user/patient conflict or communication issues.
Odd Arts deliver a wide range of workshops to raise awareness of many issues which we feel are most relevant to the partners we are working with. We can tailor and adapt our workshops to fit the needs and requirements of the participants.
